The Global Interrupt Controller (GIC) is part of the Coherent Processing System (CPS) multi-core coherent IP solution from IMG/MIPS.

The GIC provides interrupt routing between cores, as well as Inter-processor interrupts and some timer facilities.

The GIC was introduced with the 1004K and 1074K range of cores, and is also used with the interAptiv, proAptiv and P5600 multi-core solutions.

The GIC is supported in the mainline kernel.
