You did not provide your kernel config file, so I assume you have these
options set in your kernel:

CONFIG_IP_PNP=y
CONFIG_IP_PNP_DHCP=y
CONFIG_IP_PNP_BOOTP=y
CONFIG_ROOT_NFS=y

If not, then make sure you enable these.
