Please Ralf, could you help me here.
I did the same as Pete describe below, and I got the same result.

When I tried "rpm --rebuilddb" it fails because it couldn't find some libraries.
The rpm-tarball contains a statically linked rpm binary, but rpmdb is 
dynamically
linked, could you please provide me with a statically linked rpmdb binary, that 
would
be great.
