Log message:
        Merged from 2.4 fixes for three problems:
        1. ^C and restart would restart the audio only every other time.
        2. end of song resulted in a hang, that required a ^C again to break 
out.
        3. the first couple of buffers were skipped, thus a tiny chunk of the
        song was not played in the beginning.
